THE Woodcutter Story
A very famous story from the Aesop's Fables. This one has some improvisation....
A woodcutter while cutting a tree on the branch of a river accidentally drops his axe into the river...His axe being his source of bread & butter is now lost ,so he does not know what to do(Assume he does not know how to swim)..In vain he starts praying to God and seeks his help...
An Angel appears and brings out a shiny Golden Axe and asks him if it was his lost axe.
The woodcutter being honest replies that it wasn't his axe...
So the Angel once again takes a dip.
This time the Angel brings a Silver Axe and asks the woodcutter if the axe was his. What would you expect from such an honest woodcutter who had let go of the golden axe?He honestly replies that it wasn't his axe.
This time the Angel again takes a dip and comes out with the old iron axe of the woodcutter..Seeing it the woodcutter becomes happy and tells the angel that it was his axe.The Angel appreciating the honesty of the woodcutter rewards the woodcutter with all the three axes.
This is the happy ending of the story....
BUT...There's more to come.....
After a certain period of time, the Angel once again wants to test the honesty of the woodcutter .This time the woodcutter's wife falls into the river(forget about the reasons as to why she is near the river,u can figure out many). Obviously the woodcutter is upset(he has only one wife LOL,and he doesn't know how to swim).Once again ,being helpless,he starts to pray to GOD..The same angel appears and brings out a stunning beauty(say Katrina Kaif..:P) from the river and asks him if she was his wife....
Wat do you think was the answer of the woodcutter??
What would you answer be??........
YES...he answers YES....
The Angel is upset and tells the woodcutter that he has changed and is no longer honest.....
NOW COMES THE AWESOME PART......
The woodcutter explains that he hasn't changed and tries to reason saying --->
he would say that the first beauty was not his wife, then the Angel would bring out another beauty from the river and again the woodcutter would say that the second beauty was not his wife...finally the Angel would bring the real wife of the woodcutter and he would answer YES in JOY...Appreciating the honesty he would again be rewarded with all three ladies (assume only two beauties)...
The woodcutter says..As it is it was difficult to maintain one wife ...and three wives..Whoa!!...It would be close to Hell...So he justifies his answer saying he would get one beauty as his wife which was more than enough for him...He didn't want all the three....(to avoid maintainance cost)...:P.....
